I believe that every student is unique in their learning abilities and as much as possible I personalize my classes, i.e., my classes are student-centered. I usually begin from the known aspects of a lesson to the unknown and this has proven to be effective overtime as the learner is carried along a logical learning path. More than that I infuse a lot of active learning strategies and examples, drawing from audio-visuals and diverse sources to pass a lesson across. Typically, a session lasts for 2 hours on the maximum. However, by reading the mood of the student and the particular circumstance, this time could be tweaked to achieve maximal learning: so, it is not more about the length of the sessions as it is about ensuring that the student is following up with the particular session. As mentioned previously, I have experience teaching all levels of English learners, from teenagers to university students to young parents and even elderly learners who want to brush up their English proficiency.
